Wind advisory for NYC area as ‘megastorm’ moves east. Gusts could reach 50 mph
A powerful 'bomb cyclone' storm is set to bring strong winds, travel disruptions, and power outages to New York and the East Coast.
Gusts up to 60 mph are expected in parts of Franklin, Clinton and Essex counties in northern New York, where the warning expires at 11 a.m. Tuesday. The strongest wind gusts are expected through noon on Monday and along the Route 11 corridor.
A wind advisory is in effect from 2 p.m. Monday to 4 a.m. Tuesday. Winds will increase through Monday, with sustained speeds of 15 to 22 mph and gusts reaching 55 mph during the evening. Residents should secure loose outdoor items before winds increase and clear debris from nearby storm drains if safe to do so.
