Smyrna is the last municipality in Cobb County to maintain its own jail, but that will be changing this summer.

The City of Smyrna announced it would close the 64-bed municipal jail it operates.

The City Council voted unanimously at its March 2 meeting to shut down the jail, with a targeted closing date of June 2.
