UGA's historic Legion Pool, built in 1936, is set for demolition this week despite public outcry from a community group.

The demolition of Legion Pool got underway on Thursday. The University System of Georgia approved the plan in January.

The demolition includes the main pool building, mechanical building, various water slides, supporting structures, a pool, lazy river and an existing stockpile of spare slide components.
