Help us welcome the newest addition to the CSX heritage fleet: Locomotive 1851, honoring the historic Nashville, Chattanooga and St. Louis Railway (NC&StL). Operating from 1851 to 1957, the NC&StL was a vital freight and passenger route, connecting communities across Tennessee and into other southern states and driving regional growth. The CSX fleet of heritage locomotives is growing again with the introduction of CSX 1897, painted in a custom design honoring the Monon Railroad. Also known as The Hoosier Line and the Chicago, Indianapolis, and Louisville Railway, the Monon Railroad connected Chicago and Louisville, operating almost entirely in Indiana. In 1971, the railroad merged into the L&N Railroad which ultimately became part of today’s CSX. Hear from the CSX Waycross Locomotive Shop team for a behind-the-scenes look at t
