I’ve been sticking my pots like this to the wheel for trimming for years now. I remember first seeing the technique at a demonstration by Japanese potters in Stoke-on-Trent, years ago now, yet it isn’t too be confused with securing a pot to the wheel via its rim. That’s something I never do, as it normally scuffs up and ruins the rim that I’ve already carefully finished.
