Most distance running happens with a bent knee, which shifts more work to the deeper calf muscle (the soleus). It helps control ankle motion, absorb impact, and support the foot. This calf muscle connects closely plantar fascia. Soleus strength is one thing I’m working on while trying to rehab my plantar fasciitis.
