This spring, the Met bids farewell to Sonja Frisell’s monumental production of Verdi’s Aida, a Met mainstay since its premiere on December 8, 1988. As a final send-off for this classic Met production, we’ve crunched the numbers for all the people and props (and horses) in one of the most famous scenes in operatic history: the grand Triumphal March in Act II. In this scene, there are: 150 actors, 94 choristers, 62 spears, 41 swords, 31 staffs, 30 bows with quivers, 26 rope manacles, 16 dancers, 1
