The golden-tailed moray eel is one of the most distinctive eels you can find on a reef. Its yellow tail and spotted body make it easy to recognize. Morays rely on a strong sense of smell to hunt, since their eyesight isn’t great. They usually hide in crevices with just their head sticking out, opening and closing their mouth to pump water over their gills — not because they’re being aggressive.
