Found this live lightning whelk cruising the flats at low tide ⚡🐚 Florida’s state shell and one of our most impressive native sea snails. I'll probably never find this again 🤯 . While finding this Lightning Whelk shell us South Florida is a pretty common sight, finding an empty one with an attached operculum is super rare! 🤩 . I've never seen this before and didn't even know it was possible, but the mollusk must have just recently died in order to make this possible! . Have you ever seen something like it?
