On this day in 2007, the Tuskegee Airmen were awarded the Congressional Gold Medal. 🎖️ The award recognized the pilots, navigators, mechanics, and other men and women who supported the Black pilots who flew for the U.S. Army Air Forces during WWII. The medal itself is now on view at the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture.
