Porcelain Fiddler Crab (Austruca annulipes) is a delicate and beautifully patterned fiddler crab commonly found on sandy and muddy shores across the Indo-Pacific. Its elegant markings and active waving displays make it one of the most striking fiddler crabs in coastal habitats. Appearance: Pale, porcelain-like body with fine dark speckling. Males have a large white to cream-colored major claw, often with subtle yellow tones. Legs are lightly banded, and the carapace has a smooth, rounded shape.

Museum Keeper Jason explains that for male fiddler crabs, the oversized claw makes up over half their body weight and works as a weapon, a warning, and most importantly a billboard for romance. Standing in front of his burrow, he waves it back and forth to attract a female. If he loses it, he can grow a new one after several molts.
