A few weeks ago I shot some footage in the woods at Tim Christopher’s place near Decorah, Iowa. Tim showed me a new logging arch he built that he and Bob Erickson designed. The hook, where the log is attached to the arch, slides on a solid steel rod that angles upwards toward the back. The idea is that the end of the log is hooked to the cart when the hook is low and in a forward position. As the arch moves ahead, the hook travels up the rod and raises the end of the log.
