90 years ago today. On 22 January 1934, Sydney’s first Trolleybus system opened between Sydney Town Hall and St Neot’s Ave, Potts Point via William St and Darlinghurst Rd Kings Cross. The small system used two AEC 661T single deck Trolleybuses and three AEC ‘Q’ type double deck vehicles. Heralded as the eventual successor to Sydney’s trams, the overwhelming size and dominance of Sydney’s tramway system proved too much and the system closed without ceremony in mid-1948 | Sydney Tramway Museum
