The Akha are an indigenous hill tribe found mainly in northern Thailand. They are believed to have come to Thailand in the 19th century as refugees when civil war broke out in Burma and Laos Being people who live of the land the men are expert farmers and hunter's while the women excel in weaving. They are mostly meat eaters and have a liking towards pork which is used in nearly all their dishes.
