Dusky-faced Tanagers often forage in small flocks on the Panama Fruit Feeder. This time they were joined by a very rare visitor, a female Red-crowned Ant-Tanager. Male and female Red-crowned Ant-Tanagers look rather different from one another. Males are a dull red all over, with a vibrant red crown. This crown (which is yellow on the drab, olive-colored females) remains hidden much of the time. Look closely as this female tilts her head and note the vibrant line indicating this hidden crown. 👀
