I still love me some core vocabulary, don't get me wrong!⁠ ⁠ But, now I know that there's so much more to AAC than modeling adult-directed vocabulary. They can be the most useful, flexible, powerful words in the world- but if it's not what the child wants to say, it's not going to land as well as a classic "womp, womp, womp, womppppp" sounding like a cartoon character will. ⁠ ⁠ This is one of my favorite ways to encourage kids to engage with their system- by making it fun, interactive, and perso
