If I ever wondered if the ancestors were with me, guiding the journey to the (Un)Known Project, what happened in Irmo, South Carolina, solidified the answer for me. We made our way to the Bookman Cemetery to place the sign and Unknown Paver to dedicate the space as an (Un)Known Project site honoring the lives of over 120 enslaved people who are buried in a mass grave.
