The formation of Lake Keta and the other lakes of Siberia’s Putorana Plateau. The Putorana Plateau was formed around 250 million years ago when a mass of magma spread across the land, depositing a thick layer of basalt. During the last Ice Age, glaciers widened existing tectonic fractures in the basalt and carved deep, narrow valleys. These valleys eventually filled with water, creating fjord-like ribbon lakes throughout the region. #geology #map #maps
