Today is World AIDS Day, observed under the theme ‘Overcoming disruption, transforming the AIDS response’. The HIV response faces ongoing challenges as disruptions to life-saving services increase risks for many communities. In 2024, an estimated 40.8 million people were living with HIV globally, 1.3 million people acquired HIV, and 630,000 people died from HIV-related causes. The day highlights the continued need for sustained political leadership, international cooperation, and human-rights-ce
