Thanks to the swift actions of a member of the public, the crew of Anstruther RNLI were able to rescue two paddleboarders who were drifting out to sea. By calling the Coastguard, the bystander raised the alarm in the nick of time. With the wind blowing the paddleboarders further away from shore, they were three-quarters of a mile out to sea by the time our crew reached them. When a kayaker was reported as being swept out to sea due conditions changing from mild to poor, Donaghadee Lifeboat rushed to rescue him whilst the Coastguard kept watch. Arriving on scene, we found the kayaker sheltering on North Rock – we were able to recover him to the safety of the lifeboat.
