Scratch paper fun = students slowed down on digital tests! My students weren’t using scratch paper during digital testing—they were trying to hold everything in their heads. So I made “show your thinking” the incentive: ✔️ Full page of math thinking ✔️ Crumple it ✔️ Shoot a basket ✔️ Chance to win a small prize It slowed them down, reduced errors, and kept expectations high—without pressure or public call-outs.
