Today in Southern labor history, we remember the founding of the Brotherhood of Timber Workers in December of 1910. At its height, membership of the Brotherhood of Timber Workers reached up to 35,000 workers about half of whom were Black. Despite being in the Jim Crow South, the union was open to workers of all races.
