Have you ever wondered how DNR sets quotas for bear season? This year, we used an improved population model and worked with eleven stakeholder groups around the state to make the decision. Working with our partners, we decided to reduce quotas slightly in two management zones. Scott Walter, DNR’s large carnivore specialist, gives an overview of the new quotas here.
