Here's a video of snow in Kingston, near Queenstown. If you've got photos of snow on the hills, or at your place, we'd love to see them. This has been the first cold outbreak of the season, with a few cm of snow on South Island alpine passes. The coldest air and deepest clouds are moving off Aotearoa, so we're in an easing trend. This past weekend may have had some people dreaming of summer, but this week will be a cold return to reality. MetService is forecasting a mixed bag of weather over the coming days. There has been plenty of wind and rain so far today (Tuesday) and tomorrow snow and hail will be on the cards. We have issued a Heavy Snow Watch for Fiordland on Wednesday with snow down to 100 metres in the afternoon.
