The slow loris is the only species of venomous primate. These small, nocturnal primates produce an oily secretion from a gland on their arm that, when mixed with their saliva, creates a venom. They use this venom in a bite to defend themselves and have even been observed using it to mark their territory or fight with other slow lorises.
