Especially during the warmer months off the year we prefer to hand-land fish, imho the process of landing and releasing is faster this way and has less impact on the fish. They might jump and fall back into the water but that’s better than thrashing around in the boat or inside a net where it can start ripping and tearing. Also, there is no circulation when the gills can’t move due to entanglement in the net, something that is a big factor too. Just my 2 cents on the topic of landing fish, I hon
